East Traders Hall hospitality precinct in Campbell

East Traders Hall, Campbell: one system for a precinct of independent venues

The project

East Traders Hall is an 800-patron hospitality precinct at Anzac Park East in Campbell, on the ground floor of Amalgamated Property Group's Eastbourne development. Built by Fore Group to an interior design by Capezio Copeland, it brings independent venues together under one roof: WORLD by Chairman Group, Lager House by Capital Brewing Co, Lava Coffee and Sliceria, connected by laneways, indoor and outdoor spaces and six-metre ceilings.

In 2026 the precinct won the Commercial or Retail Fitout category ($2.5 million to $5 million) at the Master Builders ACT Excellence Awards.

Our role

A design and construct package from a short brief, delivered for Ashco Electrical. Ashco were our point of contact from start to finish, and most of the design was worked through together with their team, walking the plans and the site before anything was locked in. They are a talented group we work alongside regularly, and a lot of what makes this project work came out of those sessions.

We designed the lighting control, audio, video and network systems, supplied and programmed the RAPIX lighting control that Ashco installed, and delivered the AV across the precinct. Speaker positions, concealed subwoofers in the joinery and cable paths through a six-metre-high interior were coordinated with Ashco, the builder and the interior design from the start, so the technology sits inside the architecture rather than on top of it.

The challenge

A multi-tenancy precinct is one building with shared spaces, but every venue in it keeps its own hours and its own atmosphere. A cafe opening at dawn, a restaurant turning tables at lunch and a brewhouse running trivia at night all share the same building. The systems had to run the common areas as a single precinct while letting each venue control its own space without affecting the venue next door.

Lighting that changes without anyone noticing

RAPIX controls the lighting across the common areas and the tenancies. Astronomical time scheduling follows the sun through the year, moving light levels from morning coffee through lunch and into dinner service. The fades are deliberately slow, so the change is never perceived: guests never see the lights move, and staff never have to remember to adjust them.

One audio system across the precinct

Sonance Professional Series speakers cover six zones, from the common hall and outdoor areas to the amenities and the tenancies, with every subwoofer on its own control. A LEA Dante amplifier carries the whole matrix and DSP, so each zone is tuned for its space and its source from one place.

Scheduled levels for each zone and time of day are designed around the precinct's development approval conditions. Level management is built into the system, relieving the load on the venue managers.

Lager House

Capital Brewing Co's brewhouse has the most involved system in the precinct. Two Sonance Professional PS-S210SUBT subwoofers are concealed in the joinery, each individually controlled, giving the room weight without a box in sight. Six televisions run on a Binary MoIP video over IP system with four sources, so any screen can show any game.

Everything audio runs over Dante. Television audio comes in optically onto the Dante network, a Dante wall plate lets a band plug straight into the house system for live music, and a JTS wireless Dante microphone handles trivia night. Staff switch between them without touching a cable.

One interface for everyone

Control4 brings it together. Precinct management controls the shared spaces, each venue controls its own zones, and Lager House has an extended set of controls for its screens, sources and live music. Each venue sees only what it needs to.

A dedicated AV network

Dante audio, video over IP and control all run on their own Ubiquiti UniFi network, built and configured for AV. Keeping that traffic on a dedicated network means a full house on a Friday night never competes with the music or the screens.

Why it works

Most of what we delivered here is designed to go unnoticed. The lights shift with the day without anyone touching them, the levels are managed by the system, and each venue gets on with service. The technology serves the hospitality rather than the other way round, which is exactly what a precinct like this needs.
